Just did this last weekend- getting the stock muffler off
is the tricky part:

There are two screws that hold the back "half" of the
heat shield directly to the top of the stock muffler.They can be
reached ( with difficulty) from the opposite side
of the bike. The front of the stock shield is clamped
on. You can use hose clamps to put the stock shield
back on the Jardine, there are slots for it on the bottom edge
of the stock shield ( all this info Y2K1 model).
Be careful when removing the stock muffler, there is a
gasket in the end that has to be removed carefully
and put in the Jardine, or you will need to shim and
seal the join to prevent exhaust leaks.
